As for your comments about the number of listener/downloads…our numbers were smaller last year and even smaller in 2006, and they were good enough then, so why not now, when the show is bigger than in prior years?

Regarding the suggestion that FPM contact D*C directly next year….good idea, but I believe that was tried to no avail this year.

@spambrian - I agree with your comments things need to be defined CLEARLY on the D*C site. Even as I recieved the denial from Star (and the less-than-stellar explination) the site was STILL listing podcasts on the media credintal request form. NOWHERE did it ever state that a podcast was not media.

Toss all that on top of having had credentials the previous couple years, and you have one hell of a lot of confusion, and a slap in the face to people who have helped to promote the con in the past.

Regarding the accessibility in the panels….it WAS the folks working security who caused the issues in the first place. It was pretty much an isolated event….having only really been an issues at one of the panel locations (the massive new atrium hall at the Marriott)

For the most part….we can’t say enough good things about most of the D*C staff it is just this year a couple rotten apples spoiled what was to be a fun working vacation for Christina and I.

Entities like G4TV had problems getting press credentials. This is a big problem for the convention … G4 gives the con good coverage bu they don’t fall into the traditional new outlets. Some better qualification is required without opening the doors to every one who claims to be “press.”

If you have issues with seating and handicapped accessibility in panels, talk to convention security.

I know for a fact that the press badges for this year were DRASTICALLY cut back because it was getting out of hand with people requesting press ribbons/credentials.

There were panels that I wasn’t allowed in because it was full to capacity and I was on staff for the Daily Dragon. The blocking off of chairs for the disabled (and press) was put in the hands of the tracks hosting the panel, such as Whedon Universe, SGOW, American SciFi etc.

I think you need to look at the numbers of listeners/downloaders/etc. It might be a case of asking Farpoint Media to talk to the D*Con press office about badges next year.

And, just for clarification, there are more press badges given out for sci-fi/fantasy online magazines/blogs than traditional media. The only traditional media that I know of that had press credentials were a couple of the local tv stations who always provide good press for D*Con and I think the Atlanta Journal-Constitution who, again, provides POSITIVE press for D*Con, especially the parade and charity fund raising that the convention does.

And Star isn’t a bitch. She doesn’t make the decision on who gets press credentials and who doesn’t. That falls to the senior director to make those decisions and, after having been around the PR/press relations senior director, I don’t envy the decisions she has to make in the slightest.

Regarding the “obsessed with candy” comment. Good point we did talk about candy a LOT! You did say earlier it was the first time you listened to our show, so you probabally were not aware that that Geek Cuisine is a regular segment of the show where we find some sort of odd, strange, or just bizzare candy or soda and taste-test it and review it on the show.

I’m sorry you didn’t care for Christina’s voice, I may be a little biased, but I kinda like it and well…she is not going anywhere. Her being on the show adds quite a bit to what otherwise would be two guys sitting around yapping about geek stuff.

I highly doubt it was because of the laughter on the show, but it is too bad that your milk happened curdle as you were listening, if you email me directly with your name and mailing addy, I will buy you a new gallon and send it to you.

I don’t know if I should recomend you watching the “pitch-reel” for season 4 Veronica@FBI. If it were, I’d have taken the series top production in a blink. Just watch it and make up your own mind.

As for cutting down the beginning, they needed that to establish the relationship that drove the movie. And we have to admit it may have been a monster movie but it was also a love story.

If you’re looking to add more Who to the DVD collection, let me recommend Pyramids of Mars.

Some of the other FPM shows are experiencing the same thing. I’m not crazy about it but until it is fixed (new hardware due to be installed this weekend) file delivery could be erratic at best.

I’d suggest trying a couple of things: A. Try downloading again later…system may work then. B. Try downloading via iTunes, sometimes they cache the files and you may be able to get a copy thru them, or C. ping me on Skype (username: PodCulture)and I can manually send you the file.

Thanks for the kind words. As for voicemail “ratings” honestly we don’t really have a policy about that. I’d say PG13ish maybe.

Heck we’ve dropped more than our fair share of swears. Usually the milder stuff like Sh*t or A$$ that sort of thing. Not that we really disapprove of strong language or anything…it’s just that that’s how we normally talk. For example…the times we’ve actually dropped the f-bomb ourselves on the show are few and far between, but we’ve also played Johnathan Coulton’s “First of May” on the show too. (and that has a metric crapton of f-bombs)

One question, though: What “rating” do you prefer your voicemails? I didn’t notice any racy or explicit language or content in the show, but this is, as I said, my first listen.

Of course, none of this really means anything to me because I haven’t watched any of the series. I didn’t want to get hooked on the free eps when I knew I wasn’t going to buy it.

The same thing happened last summer when BT air allowed me to see some pilots before they aired. And for some reason FOX sent me a big box of DVDs with previews and season premieres of shows. Of course, most of the box was cancelled after two episodes….

Still… kinda cool that they even include a P1 PC with W95, how funny is that!

I made it through two sketches of Robot Chicken and I was through. The sketch about having sex with the fabric softener bear was funny, but Oh-So-Wrong.

Christina: I have 93 movies in my NetFlix queue and I keep shuffling the order as I change my mind about what I want to watch. Having all those movies in my queue makes me feel a lot less guilty than I would if I owned that many movies and hadn’t watched them yet.

And guys…seriously…the 96 Dr Who movie is really not that great. I’m a huge Who fan and I’ve seen them all (well, all available footage) and that movie was lackluster at best. Thankfully the whole half-human thing has been ingored by the production staff of the current series…though it may come into play this year with the Paul Cornell two parter….

I talked with my friend that introduced me to the JossVerse last night (and who is also a huge Heroes freak). We both agreed that Hayden, while a good actress, just can’t pull off Buffy. Her look is too Bubblegum Pop.

If we MUST recast Buffy, you need someone a bit tinier to pull off the “girl in the alley who you think it’s gonna get killed.” but then turns around and kicks butt. Hayden I think would pull off more of a Harmony character than a Buffy one. She’s more curvy, bouncy girl.

There’s not a lot of people to pull from since I’m not too up on teenage actors but I’d pick the girl who plays Hermione over Hayden (especially from the movie that comes out in July).

Also if they can reboot a series as successfully as the did a show like BSG why couldn’t they do the same thing for BtVS? She has teh spunk for the role and with some other good casting (and Joss writing naturally) The show would be successful.

Put it out to your listeners…..see what they think!
