PodCulture Presents: Stargate Louisville – Episode 4

Posted on Sunday, October 5th, 2008

Open the iris and dial the Gate! The dear and departed Don S. Davis introduces us this week, and PodCulture dons their Stargate Louisville uniforms.

After a marathon crash month of catching up with all things Stargate, Adam is up to date, and we’re debriefing. We all agree to liking Continuum more than Ark of Truth, and that it took some time to embrace Stargate Atlantis. We discuss the pros and cons of each show, and how Atlantis began to morph into SG-1. Christina likes John Sheppard more than Cameron Mitchell. Who likes Carson better than Jennifer? Teal’C vs Ronon? We talk about our hopes for the characters before the end of the series, including Robert Picardo’s Woolsey.

In the second part, Adam’s seen the mid-season cliffhanger episode and we discuss it, so if you want to avoid spoilers, STOP LISTENING at the point Walter says, “Unauthorized incoming transmission from SGL!”

What do you think about the cancellation of Stargate Atlantis? Did you enjoy the mid-season cliffhanger? Send us an incoming transmission and let us know!

PodCulture Presents: Stargate Louisville Salutes Don S. Davis

Posted on Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

Brad and Christina take a week off from PodCulture, and dust off the Stargate Louisville podcast and join friends and fans in remembering a dear part of the sci-fi community, actor Don S. Davis.

Whether you knew him as Scully’s dad on The X-Files, Major Garland Briggs on Twin Peaks or as General George S. Hammond on Stargate: SG1, fans were treated with a brilliant and heartfelt performance in everything Don did.

We had the distinct privilege of meeting Don at Dragon*Con two ago, and the genuine kindness of his man became a favorite memory of the trip. He was so happy to sit and chat with us, sign autographs and answer questions. A brilliant storyteller, consummate actor, and immeasurable footprint has been swept from us. May he be just on the other side of The Event Horizon, just waiting with smiles and jokes to share.

Please join us as we share clips from past convention panels, and some of our memories. We would also like to thank the listeners who have shared their stories with us (and you) as well.

Should you wish to, please make a donation to the American Heart Association in Don’s memory.

PodCulture Presents: Stargate Louisville – Episode 2

Posted on Sunday, September 17th, 2006

After a delay due to DragonCon recovery and assorted other health reasons, the SGL crew are rested, and ready to bring you another episode filled with all sorts of Stargate goodies!

Brad and Christina start off by recapping their visit to DragonCon 2006, and discussing some of the panels they saw there.

Brad reads some of the latest news postings regarding Stargate.

Glenn (their co-host from PodCulture) stops in for a quick visit to show off his latest toy…..a toy replica of the P90 used on the Stargate series.

Christina and Brad then discuss the current “Save SG1″ campaign that is going on and give a few websites like www.TheSaveSG1Community.net that folks can check out to possibly find out ways that they can help out with the campaign.

The episode is then capped off with a very cool SciFi review about SG1 and Firefly that was borrowed (with permission) from the ever-cool podcast The Signal.
