Rest in peace, General Hammond

Posted on Monday, June 30th, 2008
Don S. Davis, our beloved General Hammond from SG1, has passed away due to a heart attack on June 29, 2008. God speed, Don, and rest in peace.

As long-time listeners to the show may know Christina and I used to host a short-lived podcast called Stargate Louisville. I want to open the iris on that show one more time and would like to do a tribute show for Don. To make this even more of a tribute I would like YOUR help. If you have a special memory of meeting him at a convention, or a favorite moment from the show, please let us know in your own words. You can record something and email it to me: Brad (at) PodCulture.net or call the voicemail line at 206-338-3763, and leave it there.

I’d like to get this out and on the feed as soon as possible. Prob not the next episode of PodCulture (show 111) due out Wed 7/2) but the following one (due out 7/9).

Peace,
Brad

Bring Back “The Dresden Files” Campaign

Posted on Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

from our frinds over at the Slice of SciFi Website:

Bring Back “The Dresden Files” Drum Stick Campaign

Posted by Sam on Tuesday, 11 Sep 2007

81px-drumstick.jpgdresden_overview.jpgIf all fans of “The Dresden Files,” which was cancelled by The SCI FI Channel are serious about wanting to get their show back with all new episodes, there might be something you can do.

Taking a page from the “Save Jericho” script, one of our Slice of SciFi fans by the name of John VanSeters took our cue about Mike’s suggestion of sending drum sticks to the network to the next level and got SCI FI President Bonnie Hammer’s snail-mail address. The drum stick is an appropriate message to send to Hammer since Harry Dresden uses one for his magician’s wand.

You can mail those drum sticks to:

The Sci-Fi Channel
Attn: Bonnie Hammer, President
1230 Avenue of the Americas
New York, NY 10020-1513

Now get those drum sticks going and don’t forget to print “SAVE DRESDEN” on each stick you sent to Ms. Hammer.

8/26/06 Louisville KY: SERENITY back on the big screen!

Posted on Tuesday, August 15th, 2006

Just got word that Baxter Avenue Theater is going to be showing Serenity as their “Splodin’ Summer Series”. Schedule is for midnight Saturday the 26th of August. Unfortunately, this is a for-profit venture, not something that’s going to Equality Now or anything. But still… might be something that would encourage them to show it again sometime for a fundraiser if we could fill their theater that evening.

Serenity on the big screen (a letter from the Bluegrassbrowncoats.net site)

Posted on Tuesday, May 9th, 2006

Hey gang,

I just got the following letter from Adam over at bluegrassbrowncoats.net. It looks like the BGBC are going to try and get a screening of SERENITY in Louisville, and we could really use your help. If you would like to come down for it (or can make some sort of donation) PLEASE head over to the forums at www.bluegrassbrowncoats.net and post and let us know! It would be really great to have some of y’all down for the show!

Peace,
Brad

(from Adam)

Brad,
We need your help!! Troy (Visionary) has contacted the Showcase Delux here in town to get us the rights to show Serenity on the bigscreen. They just heard back from Universal and we are a go for a June 22nd 7pm showing! Kicker is: it’s $1400 we need to raise for this. We’re still working out the details on the money collection, but we figure at 7 bucks a pop, we’d need 200-ish people. I know you have good connections with the SOBs, do you know if they are doing anything of the sort for Serenity day (June 23rd)? If not, I wanted to extend an invitation to them for this. We need to get the word out about this! I’m telling everyone I know
