Posted on Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

Christina opens the show with a throwback to old school Sesame Street, and sends her condolences to her friend, Rhonda and family. The gang spends a moment mourning John Hughes. What was your favorite Hughes movie?

Glenn talks about the XBox 360 update. We agree that there needs to be giveaway shirts for the avatars. Christina is coveting the Monkey Island game for the 360. If Glenn wasn’t podcasting he’d be home playing the Call of Duty: World at War map pack. Adam tells us about new downloadable content for Left 4 Dead. He’s been playing Eve Online, and Brad’s looking forward to the Star Trek MMO. Christina bought Oregon Trail for her iPhone, is enjoying AppMiner, and Brad is playing IDiggit on his.

Geek Cuisine is the perfectly purple diet Mountain Dew Ultraviolet.

Glenn is watching Warehouse 13, and the gang wonders about Stargate Universe (or as Adam calls it “Battlegate Voyager”). Battlestar Galactica: The Movie is coming! Brad and Christina watched the entire series of Merlin and began to watch Robin Hood. Adam is loving Better Off Ted, and FINALLY got to watching frelling Farscape! He’s looking forward to Ghost In The Shell:Stand Alone Complex. Christina needs to catch up with Robot Chicken. We’re all massively excited about Iron Man 2, and there are mixed feelings about Sherlock Holmes. Glenn’s finished Moonlight and is catching up with Dresden Files and Tru Calling. Brad points out a shout out to Dresden Files in a Supernatural novel. Christina’s finished the fifth season of So You Think You Can Dance.
We’re all looking forward to District 9. Glenn’s seen G.I. Joe and he gives us his review.

In closing, Christina and Brad want to see Super Capers. Glenn lets us know about the open beta for Aion, and wishes Marvel Comics a happy 70th birthday! Christina’s read Green Lantern: Rebirth. Brad suggests Y: The Last Man, Walking Dead and Invincibles. Adam tells us about kayaking, caving in Mammoth Cave and white water rafting.

PodCulture 163: Soylent Twinkies – Part A

Posted on Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

Christina opens this week talking about her new favorite show, Lie To Me, and Glenn’s got a gaggle of frogs at his house. Adam’s is the home for wayward computers, and has recycled twice his weight in old parts. Brad’s been updating three (count them three) computers in the past week!

We’re technogeeks, and Adam reminds us why as he gives us a full review of his new Palm Pre. He talks about battery life, screen response, app selection and more. The boys talk about the sparring between Palm and iTunes, and how Brad’s iPhone has died yet another death. Brad’s been playing Dr. Frankenstein with computers, and has opened an operating room on the kitchen table. Glenn’s had his main pc at home get the red ring of death, so he’s switched Windows 7. Adam’s got his Pre, Brad’s got his iPhone 3G, and Glenn’s got an AT&T Tilt. Glenn’s thinking about an iPhone and Christina’s eyeing the 3GS. What do you think? Do you have them, love them, hate them? Let us know!

Geek Cuisine is a two pack of goodness, as we enjoy Strawberry Creme Twinkies.

PodCulture 162: Crisis on Infinite Geeks – Part B

Posted on Sunday, August 9th, 2009

The boys open this week’s geekish bacchanalia, discussing the variations of the Enterprise models.

Ashlee and Adam share the wonderfulness of Better Off Ted, and she’s getting ready to delve into Angel the series. They chat about the arc of Wesley and Cordelia’s characters, and then warp into Red Versus Blue. Ashlee’s having a zombie movie marathon and wonders if Zombieland will live up to the hype. Glenn will be watching Moonlight.

Geek Cuisine is Fudge Sundae Cream Oreos.

Brad’s toy shelf overfloweth, as he adds DC Universe Blue Beetle figure, and Christmas themed Star Wars Galactic Heroes. While up in Cleveland, he finds the sixth season of Dukes of Hazzard and the seventh season of Smallville on blu-ray for the staggering amount of six dollars each. At a Toys R Us, he finds Batman (the tv series) die cast vehicles. What would a Geek and Tell be without a Transformer? He’s got Ravage! Glenn shows off his new World Of Warcraft figures and got a two pack of murlocks for Carly. He’s picked up the fourth collection in the Empowered story.

Adam’s added a USB display for his computer, and Ashlee’s got an Iron Man model and debates whether or not to paint it. Ryan got a model of the Enterprise, and one of The Jupiter II he’s reserving for his “retirement projects”. He’s been trying to catch up on comics, and picked up some hardcover compilations, including Sinestro Corps and Guardian of the Galaxy.

The geek emporium closes with talk of future Transformers toys, geek hair color, Aion, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Beatles Rockband, Arkam Asylum, paint ball versus laser tag, Mech Warrior, Champions Online, The Old Republic MMO,

Our promos come graciously from The Gamma Quadron, The Leviathan Chronicles and Borrowed Time.

PodCulture 161: Crisis on Infinite Geeks – Part A

Posted on Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

Ryan and Ashlee join the boys in a Christinaless episode. Glenn’s watched Blade: The Series, Adam’s walking (yeah, for fun), and watching Better Off Ted. Ryan is sharing Star Trek, the original series on blu-ray, with his kids.  They discuss the episodes to share with people to properly induct them into the show. Ashlee is preparing for her Toronto trip and watching Buffy. They discuss the Whedonverse, and how the shows and actors overlap.

Geek Cuisine is the love-ly bunch of coconuts….M&Ms!

Glenn’s brought Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li on dvd, which spurs on debate about games turned movies, and old cheesy tv shows including Gatchaman. He’s also got Knowing (which he hasn’t seen yet), and Push, which borrows from Firestarters but doesn’t quite live up to his expectations. The guys share about Fantastic 4. Adam’s been watching Appleseed and Appleseed Ex Machina, and he and Ashlee compare notes. Ryan is picking up classic blu-ray sci-fi, including Kurt Russell’s The Thing. Will there be a prequel? Is it a “guy movie”? Do you watch movies in production order, or storyline order? Do you have to watch Mad Max to appreciate Road Warrior?

Coming full circle, the gang compares the remastered episodes of the classic Star Trek series to the original episodes, both on the blu-ray set.

The promo this week is from the ever-fantastic What The Cast!
