PodCulture 149: Little Big Podcast

Posted on Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

Brad, Christina and Adam don’t have Glenn in the studio this week, but they’ve got Brad’s fantastic sister, Emalee filling in as silent studio audience.

Adam’s been working, and working on his CGI animations. Christina’s up to her eyeballs in work, but is enjoying going in early and loving her new fish, Freddie! When she’s not at work, she’s playing the hell out of Little Big Planet. Brad’s exploring the new version of Ubuntu (laugh, Andy!)

Brad gives Christina the floor to talk about why she’s obsessed with Little Big Planet. If you have the game, play with her! If you don’t, why the heck not?! If you have favorite levels, or a similar kind of game, e-mail her!

Adam’s finished the second season of Supernatural, and Brad’s trying to get him to watch Primeval. They talk about Caprica, and bonus features on the Battlestar dvds. Christina’s been watching Discovery Channel, and Adam’s loving Mythbusters. Find out what made Brad freak out, and why Christina grossed him out. Adam and Brad talk about G.I. Joe: Resolute, and Brad and Christina are loving Transformers Animated. The three talk about the next Transformers movie.

Thank you SO much to our Number One Groupie, Andy (aka Freehold South) for his voicemail!

Geek Cuisine is in honor of Emalee, in the form of Surgar Free Flavor Ice Pops.

In conclusion, Christina wishes Elizabeth to feel better, and requests weird YouTube videos. If you’ve got reviews of videos, or iPod apps, let us know! Adam says to watch Mythbusters!

Promos come courtesy of All Games Considered and The Geek Survival Guide.

LAST SECOND NEWS:  PodCulture will be taking a week or two off due to all the Kentucky Derby events and activity.  Our next recording will be on May the 8th with Episode 150  due out around May the 11th.  Stay tuned to the feed in the meantime, because you never know what geeky-goodness may show up in your podcatcher!

PodCulture 148: Caprican TARDIS

Posted on Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Karmic Koala Benry Linus stands in for Glenn this week, but lets Brad, Christina and Adam steal the spotlight for this episode of PodCulture

Thunder over Louisville has come and gone this weekend and the trio enjoyed being downtown, and the two remind Christina that the fireworks weren’t for her birthday on the 19th.

Geek Cuisine is dark chocolate Reese Cups.

The three have watched the Easter Doctor Who Special, and they discuss the splitting of the series into specials, Michelle Ryan, and what lies ahead for the Tenth Doctor. Which ‘cast member’ took the most damage? What does each host think of the story? Christina entreats the audience members with audio ripping capacity to throw some “Christina” sound files her way.

For another dose of Timey Wimey loveliness, the trio have watched the movie pilot of Caprica. Find out what the boys thought of the “not for the children” aspect of the show, and what Christina thought about the characterization of Mr. Adama. Do you see religious overtones? Does the series have a cylon to stand on? Tell us what you think?

In conclusion, Christina requests the listeners’ top five favorite, weirdest YouTube videos. Christina’s latest favorites include Charlie The Unicorn and the video “The Future Is The Future” by Seduff. Adam asks you to watch Doctor Who and Caprica, and to get out an enjoy the weather. Brad looks forward to trying other flavors of Mana Potion.

Promos come from Tuning Into Sci-Fi Tv, Future Traditions, The Tin Dog Podcast and Galactica Quorum.

Geek Cuisine turns into Geek Cuisine Labs with Mana Energy Potion mixed with Mountain Dew Voltage

Get ready to get your game on girls and geeks! Glenn’s playing the new Bond game, Call of Duty World at War, Battlefield: Bad Company, and is looking forward to its sequel. Brad, Christina and Adam talk about games for the iPod and iPhone, including Zombieville USA, Wolfenstein 3D, Imagine Poker and Monopoly Here and Now. Brad’s got Halo Wars, and Glenn’s playing Guild Wars. Brad and Christina have signed up for a Gamefly membership, and have played and/or bought Phantasy Star Portable, Sims Kingdom, Singstar Abba, Streetfighter 4, and Little Big Planet (stay tuned on that last one, folks!). We talk about customizable, community content, and request those musically inclined to upload a version of the PodCulture theme song to Guitar Hero World Tour! PodCulture 146: Full 1080 Geek – Part A

Posted on Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Get out the 3-D glasses, and join us in the PodCulture Theater for this week’s episode!

Glenn begins by sharing that he’s finishing watching Buffy, and has always enjoyed Once More With Feeling. Adam’s taken some time off, enjoying some 3-D modeling, playing (and beating) Mirror’s Edge, and building a computer with his brother as a birthday present. The boys talk about various geek rights of passage, and Christina also wishes her beautiful sister, Miranda, a happy 13th birthday. Guaranteed to blow your mind, Christina relished the concert One Night of Queen, starring the amazing Gary Mullen and The Works. The pair are watching Dollhouse, Big Bang Theory and the trio talk about timey-wimey things from Lost.

Future meets past as the gang talks books from The Kindle to the time travelly goodness of Doctor Who books. Brad’s added The Doctor Who Encyclopedia, The Doctor Trap, Ghosts of India, Shining Darkness and The Eyeless to his Tardis shelf. The Torchwood books, including Trace Memory, Pack Animals and Skypoint join them, and Christina’s pride and joy is the interactive Doctor Who Time Travels book. What do you think about books going paperless? Is it “green” or ghastly? Write us or call us!

Adam provides  Mana Energy Potion for this week’s hyper-hypo Geek Cuisine!

Glenn gives us the scary and subtitled Day Watch and Night Watch pair of Guilty Pleasures.

Brad talks about the newest addition to the PodCulture Theater; their new 47 inch Vizio flat screen HDTV, christening it with both Serenity and Prince Caspian.

Promos come graciously from The Babylon Podcast, The Signal, What the Cast and The British Invaders Podcast.
