PodCulture 121: The Wrath of Con – Part C

Posted on Sunday, September 28th, 2008

After an introduction from the System Lord we love to hate, Cliff Simon, who plays Ba’al on Stargate SG:1, we’re off on another geek rampage.

Glenn give us the Pleasure De Guilt for the week with Phantom Empire.

Geek Cuisine ushers in the fall with Pumpkin Spice Hershey Kisses.

We’re still wading though Dragon Con souvenirs, and Brad’s got books! Stargate Atlantis “Mirror Mirror”, Stargate SG:1 “Roswell”, Stargate SG:1 “Do No Harm”, Sherilynn Kenion’s “Seize The Night”. They’ve got CDs, Christina’s favorite being “Like A Waterfall” by James Marsters. Brad’s got The Brobingagian Bards’ “Holy Grail of Irish Drinking Songs”, Mark Gunn’s “Whiskers In The Jar”, “Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers” and “Irish Drinking Songs: The Cat Lover’s Companion”. The pair have a Chicago 2005 dvd of Wicked. Brad’s now the owner of a set of Green Lantern shot glasses from StylinOnline. “Planet Hulk” and “Young Avengers” hardback collections have made their way onto Brad’s shelf, and Glenn’s got Next Avengers on DVD. Christina picked up a present for Brad’s birthday, and he’s picked out a full-sized replica of the Sword of Omens from Thundercats. Christina got herself some shiny in the form of a glass earth pendant and a replica of the Tardis key. Glenn’s got the new Coldplay cd “Viva La Vida”.

Congratulations to The Geek Spin for winning a Podcast Peer Award!

Promos come kindly from The Weird Show and The John Payne Fancast.

PodCulture 120: The Wrath of Con – Part B

Posted on Saturday, September 20th, 2008

Opening this week’s episode, Brad brings about a potentially controversial discussion. Is podcasting a legitimate media? Do you consider a podcast a valid press medium? If you were at Dragon*Con this year, did you notice changes? What did you think?

What did we bring for Geek and Tell? Brad and Christina have Sapphire and Steel, the first series of Transformers Animated, and Witchblade: The Series on DVD. Behold the bookshelves, as Brad adds to the collection. Digital Magic by Philippa Ballantine, The Case of The Pitcher’s Pendant: A Billibub Baddings Mystery by Tee Morris, and Mur Lafferty’s Playing for Keeps. Glenn’s picked up The Judas Strain by James Rollins. Christina is absolutely in love with her set of Brainwave Suite cds by Dr. Jeffrey Thompson.

Thanks a million tons to Stuart for his fantastically wonderful prezzie! The Ultimate SFX Trivia book, Star Wars Pocket Model, Doctor Who magnets, Farscape and Primeval posters, and a mylar Cylon poster. And to Mark, aka Jayhawk, our most grateful thanks for the Doctor Who Infinite Quest and series 2 of Primeval.

Brad and Christina talk about their friends on Twitter, Glenn’s enjoying playing with listeners on the 360, and Christina is mad about her Darkwing Duck shirt from Hot Topic.

Promos come graciously from Inklings 2.0, and thanks so much to Brian from What The Cast.

PodCulture: In The Dark

Posted on Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Please bear with us gang …. the next couple of shows MAY be late in being posted.  For those that do not know…Louisville was hit pretty darn hard by very high winds this past Sunday.  Power has been out for most of the city ever since.  It is slowly being restored, but estimates say it could be as long as another week or two before everyone has their power back on.  The PodCulture studio is totally dark, so I am unable to get the files off the main computer to upload to the feed.  I can occasionally post or check email via work or my iPhone, but for the most part Christina and I are offline.  I will get the shows up ASAP folks!

Peace,

Brad

PodCulture Special: Wingin’ It 3D #045: WI3D goes to Dragon*Con 2008

Posted on Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

While at Dragon*Con Christina and I got a chance to put the Zoom H4 to even more use and we sat in with a BUNCH of friends and were able to record a special episode of that wacky crazy Farpoint Media show: Wingin’ It 3D.  It was a LOT of fun!

PodCulture 119: The Wrath of Con – Part A

Posted on Sunday, September 14th, 2008

After an introduction by eyecandy himself, Gareth David Lloyd, we begin this week’s episode of PodCulture!

While Brad and Christina were at Dragon Con, Glenn has been playing Soul Calibur 4 and working on his house.

Glenn has picked up Heroes season 2 on dvd, is all caught up in time for the season premiere, and has also obtained Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, and Supernatural. We are split down the middle about whether or not we’re looking forward to the series opener of Smallville. Brad and Christina are catching up with Stargate Atlantis, and she is looking forward to Life On Mars. Glenn is excited about Fringe, Dollhouse and the rumored “worst science fiction movie ever” Babylon A.D.

Our Geek Cuisine is the 80’s “pop”culture favorite, Pop Rocks.

The Dragon Con shopfest was tamer than last year. Brad has brought home three new koalas, and the halloween kitty from Build A Bear. The pair got autographs from Cliff Simon, Gareth David Lloyd, Nathan Fillion, Jewel Staite and Morena Baccarin. Although he wasn’t there, a Derek Jacobi’s autograph came home with them, too. Christina is now the happy owner of a Robert Lewellyn autograph, and even happier to say how lovely he was. Brad has also picked up two Serenity ornaments, and Christina has found the scarecrow action figure from Doctor Who. Glenn has got a Beowulf figure from Spawn.

Promos come from The Weird Show, Star Wars: Codename Starkeeper, and Future Traditions: A Jericho Podcast.

PodCulture 118: LIVE from Dragon*Con 2008

Posted on Friday, September 5th, 2008

Christina welcomes you to PodCulture at Dragon Con!

She and Brad welcome the some of the cast of The 9th: Heroes Podcast, Miranda, Gerry, Mark and Laura, and a special welcome to Cousin Jean.

Christina’s favorite things of the weekend were panels for Torchwood and Firefly. Gerry enjoyed the Battlestar panel and Mark loved winning a Parsec, and meeting fellow podcasters. Miranda won’t forget Nathan and Alan playing with her iRiver, and Laura enjoyed the many Doctor Who costumes. Brad and Christina enjoyed the Podcast Peer Awards ceremony.

Speaking of costumes, we all had favorites. Miranda found Lost’s Hugo, Cousin Jean enjoyed the “How I Met Your Mother” Robin Sparkles, Gerry loved the Iron Men and the Ghostbusters, Mark explains steam punk and tells us about Doctor Steel. Brad admired the Green Lantern Corps and Christina loved the “jammies and sword” Doctor Who. Laura was followed by a Middle Earth tree, and bought some beautiful Jason Palmer prints.

Geek Cuisine on the road is Violet Crumbles, and out of the entire room of podcasters, Brad and Christina are the only ones who like it.

A very, very special thank you to Andy aka Freehold South for his support at the Parsecs. Our very own number one Groupie! Congratulations to Mark on his Parsec for The Weird Show.

Did you go to Dragon Con? What was your favorite thing? Send us pictures!
