PodCulture 66: Crux of the Matter – Part B

Posted on Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

You are hereby welcomed to this week’s episode by the velvet voice of Farscape’s Lani Tupu!

We get the guilt on early, and Glenn’s got one that even he hesitates to recommend! “Thriller”, aka “They Call Her One Eye”, is the envelope pushing, sex and violence marriage that is said to have inspired the twisted genius of Quentin Tarantino.

Geeks go shopping this week, as Brad shows off his new Transformers, including the Jazz repaint, the voyager class Optimus, and the 20th Anniversary dvd edition of Optimus. Christina enjoys the new Dalek and Doctor Nine figures, and her Yoda Lunchbox. Brad extends the bookshelves once again with the Buffy books, “Dark Congress” and “Blackout”, and the third volume of The Invincibles. Christina spreads the geek love, giving her near-Muggle coworker a Lost “Sawyer” figure. The dvd shelf groans under the weight of both the Collector’s Edition of Serenity, and the first season of Heroes. Sparse, but not to be left out, Glenn’s brought Robot Chicken-Season 2, and the animated Doctor Strange dvd into his collection.

PodCulture 65: Crux of the Matter – Part A

Posted on Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

After an introduction by the deliciously undead James Marsters, the gang is back in action!

Glenn talks about the visually stunning Dragon Wars, Christina struggles with Man’s need for big shiny stuff, the boys await the coming Halo 3, and all are still amazed they survived Dragon*Con.

Glenn’s just watched Blackhawk Down for the first time, and picked up the surprisingly beloved Dead or Alive. Christina and Brad watched the less-than-thrilling pilot for Flash Gordon, and it’s thumbs uncertain for The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Glenn’s looking forward to seeing the Bionic Woman pilot, and Christina’s signing herself up for bionic bits.

PodCulture 64: Dragon*Con 2007 Aftermath

Posted on Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

The Beastmaster himself, Marc Singer, introduces PodCulture this week….

Will you still need us? Will you still feed us (candy, preferably) now we’re sixty-four?

The geeksome threesome exhaustedly recaps the hectic humidity and fanboy fanaticism of Dragon*Con 2007.

Glenn recants his purchases, which include his Gears of War t-shirt (which has inspired him to start playing the game again), many dvds that will be future Guilty Pleasures, an autographed copy of “Girl’s and Goddesses-Pin Up Art” by Joseph Michael Linsner, and his very own John Wesley Shipp autograph. For Carly, Glenn’s bought cds by Bella Morte, and Cruxshadows.

Bring Back "The Dresden Files" Campaign

Posted on Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

from our frinds over at the Slice of SciFi Website:

Bring Back “The Dresden Files” Drum Stick Campaign

Posted by Sam on Tuesday, 11 Sep 2007

81px-drumstick.jpgdresden_overview.jpgIf all fans of “The Dresden Files,” which was cancelled by The SCI FI Channel are serious about wanting to get their show back with all new episodes, there might be something you can do.

Taking a page from the “Save Jericho” script, one of our Slice of SciFi fans by the name of John VanSeters took our cue about Mike’s suggestion of sending drum sticks to the network to the next level and got SCI FI President Bonnie Hammer’s snail-mail address. The drum stick is an appropriate message to send to Hammer since Harry Dresden uses one for his magician’s wand.

You can mail those drum sticks to:

The Sci-Fi Channel
Attn: Bonnie Hammer, President
1230 Avenue of the Americas
New York, NY 10020-1513

Now get those drum sticks going and don’t forget to print “SAVE DRESDEN” on each stick you sent to Ms. Hammer.

Posted on Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

After an introduction by the heroically gracious Major Victory, the Culture Crew goes live (well, Memorex) from the Dragon Con experience 2007!

Taking advantage of the Real Time Travel Info, the gang reports on the way home, from Bob Evans on some of the highlights from Dragon Con.

We rewind to on the way to D*C at the Wendy’s in Bowling Green, Kentucky, all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

Lying down on the Con, Brad and Christina relax the night before all the geeks break loose.
